The Consumer Guide for Tanning Beds & Tanning Lamps

Tanning Booths (Vertical Tanning Beds)

A tanning booth is essentially a tanning bed placed vertically. Instead of lying down in a "capsule" tanning bed and closing the lid over you, you simply step inside a tanning booth and close the door. A domed ceiling prevents any light from escaping.

Tanning booths provide a stronger, faster, more even tan than a traditional tanning bed as they contain more tanning lamps. The bulbs are also placed evenly 360° around the inside of the booth. As such, they are popular for busy people that want a 10-minute tanning session instead of the more typical 20-minute session.

Tanning booths generally cost no more more than a high-quality horizontal tanning bed. They can weigh close to 1,000 lbs and generally require 220V AC electricl power.
