The Consumer Guide for Tanning Beds & Tanning Lamps

Tanning Bed Timers

Timers are an important component of taning beds. Without one, you can easily mis-estimate the amount of time spent in the bed, greatly increasing your chance of overexposure and burning. Most tanning beds are designed for either a 10-minute session or a 20-minute tanning session. All tanning bed timers are wired into the lamp circuit, shutting down the bed when the alloted time is over.

For home tanning beds, timers can be either analog or digital, and consist of a simple control where the time is set. For commercial tanning beds, timers are much more sophisticated and are used to control multiple tanning beds.

Digital timers for commercial tanning beds are usually operated remotely. Such timers allow tanning salon owners to control over 100 tanning beds, vary individual bed session times, delay starting of beds and even keep track of the number of hours the lamps in each tanning bed are used.
